Over the past 16 years the Concerned Businessmen's Association has awarded $485,000.00 to winners of the National Set A Good Example Contests to help improve education. Winning First Place Nationally in the School Competition is no small feat with so many involved. Over 12 million students representing every state and nearly 12,000 schools have participated. "Inspiring" is just one way of describing the job done by those students. And the first-place winners for the year 2000—2001 are:

National First-Place Winners:

Primary Division
Grades: Primary through 5th
Sugerbush Elementary School - $5,000.00 Grant - New Baltimore, Michigan

Middle Division
Grades: 6 through 8th
Apache Elementary School - $10,000 Grant - Overland Park, Kansas

Also the unprecedented winners of all three national awards:
First Place Overall
First Place Learning Improvement Award
First Place Environment Improvement Award

Senior Division
Grades: 9th through 12th (High School/Academy)
Clearwater Academy - $5,000.00 Grant - Clearwater, Florida

National First-Place Runners Up:

Landrum Elementary School - San Benito, Texas

Middle Division
Grades: 6 through 8th
Hallen Elementary School - Bridgeport, Connecticut

Senior Division
