Jane says she works hard and studies to get good grades. She says they are important to her because it will help her with her future education and send her to a very "smart" college.
Her family recycles at home throughout the year. When all the recycling bins are full, Jane helps deliver them to the Harlingen Proud Center. The items recycled are plastics, newspapers, cardboard and aluminum cans.
She also plants flowers in her yard every spring. This year she not only planted flowers but recycled an old wheelbarrow as well.
Jane likes to recycle because it helps save trees and other natural resources. She likes to plant flowers because once they bloom she feels good that she made the environment look much better.
Jane gets the Set a Good Example Gold Medal for exemplifying The Way to Happiness' precepts #6, "Set a Good Example" and #17 "Be Competent." In addition she also gets the Gold Medal for precept #12 "Safeguard and Improve your Environment."
One very effective way we as citizens can help America is to forward The Way to Happiness book. Every company we work for, every business we own can be part of such an action. The Way to Happiness was written for the man in the street. This book belongs to everyone.
The purpose of The Way to Happiness is to create peaceful coexistence.
How does it do that? It puts into the hands of people a workable set of ideas simple common sense ideas they can agree upon, no matter who they are.
Children involved in the Children's Set A Good Example Contest have been using the book to help create positive, shoulder to shoulder efforts over the past 20 years.
