Eight-Year-Old Gold Medal
Winner is Part of a New Video

Two years ago when Dr. Juan Villarreal decided to sponsor the Set a Good Example Contest for the students of Harlingen, Texas, he had no idea that a little 8-year-old girl, who became a gold medal winner, would start sending out the word to students in Cameron County or that she would take it upon herself to be a spokesperson for the program.

Lauren's favorite part of The Way to Happiness book is where anybody could make a change. The Harlingen program almost tripled in the number of youth in the second year of the program as a result of her promoting it. Someone decided to submit Lauren's name to the Lands End Inc. where she was nominated for an award for Born Heroes. She is just one of the only eight children awarded this honor in the United States. She will be appearing as a cover girl in their catalog as part of her award.

Additionally she received a $5,000 grant for her favorite charities. One half of the money went to McDonald's House and the other half went to the local children hospital activities fund for Lauren's Closet. When she asked what it was, she was told that it would be full of toys. When they have toys they get well faster— and this was Lauren's dream to make children better through the use of toys!

Lauren is one of the number of opinion leaders appearing in a special video available to businessman who are interested in supporting such programs as the Set a Good Example Contest. Public officials and business leaders will be inspired by young people like Lauren and help in furthering these activities.

Anyone interested in this video or more information on the Set a Good Example Contest can contact the CBAA at 800-455-0173 or by fax at 310-639-5185. Or by E-mail www.cbaa.org then send your e-mail to the president.
