This Year's Gold Medal Winners
of the Set A Good Example Contests
Rachel's Project: "Love and Help other Children"
From the National Contest of 6- to 8-year-olds, we have the winner, Rachel, from Michigan. Her sponsor was Dr. Abe Gershonowicz, a dentist from Sterling Heights. Dr. Gershonowicz first began this program in his city approximately five years ago and has shared an interest in getting a city-wide event started for children in his community.
Dr. Gershonowicz was present for the presentation to 6-year-old Rachel this years Gold Medal Winner for the Set a Good Example Contest! She was accompanied at the presentation of her award by her parents and her teacher with her husband and child.
Rachel's Project:
Rachel seems to be in the habit of getting active for others and being recognized with awards. Two years in a row she participated in a fund raiser at her elementary school, raised the most money for her grade, and won a limousine ride for herself and a friend to Mc Donald's for lunch. Well, this time she won a trip to Disneyland for being a good student, using manors and listening to her teacher, raising money for her grade, and helping others.
Rachel loves and helps other children, one of the precepts of The Way to Happiness book and demonstrated that quality by helping a non-English speaking Korean boy in kindergarten and first grade to understand what he needed to do to participate in the class and with his homework. The boy's mother was grateful to Rachel for her help. Rachel also collected money at Easter and gave it to the church for poor children who do not have food and clothes. It makes her heart happy to help othersespecially kids.
Rachel likes to read books, keeps her grades high, gets awards from her music teacher and especially likes to fund raise for others.
With activities like these, Rachel wins the Set A Good Example Contest from The Way to Happiness Foundation International!
Next week you will hear more, and in detail, about the National Gold Medal winners this year.
